What’s your favorite CSO memory?

This year, the Cavalier Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its 10-year anniversary! The musicians of CSO have made so many amazing memories together over the past decade. This page is for CSO alumni and current members to share the best of those memories with you!

“Of all my CSO memories, from parties at 110 Kent Terrance to p-team meetings, it's hard to pick a favorite. A close candidate for best memory is the Spring '25 concert at the MLK performing arts center. It was my last concert with the group and my second season conducting. The orchestra's cruising through dress rehearsal, blowing away the handful of early audience members. Autumn takes the podium and prepares to rehearse the last song, "The Good Old Song." Alex and I are sitting out among the audience, listening to share feedback. Autumn hits the downbeat and the group surprises me with the happy birthday song. It was the highlight of my birthday and definitely one of my best CSO memories!”

- Omid Sayyadli, violist and conductor

“I have many many favorite moments, but one of the most memorable rehearsals was when our President, Ben, and VP, Connor, took it upon themselves to fix the projector in the Runk rehearsal space (they did an excellent job, as you can see from the photo).”

- Kayla Flock, violinist, Marketing Chair 2016-2019 and Media Chair/Historian 2019-2020

“I always loved the murder mysteries the most. It was so fun to plan at first when I was one of the social chairs, and then play a character and goof around with everyone when I was on the other side of it later on. Also, playing at the Paramount was pretty cool!”

- Melanie York, violist, Concert Manager 2022-2023 and Co-President 2023-2024

“Performing at the Paramount and signing our names onto the wall!”

- Denise Pahang, violinist, Social Chair 2025-2026
